About Us

The field of Medicine and Health care is a highly prioritized agenda of any nation in the world for the welfare of its citizens. Health care system has three main components: medical education, medical technology and medical research. A country is said to be economically grown-up if only its human resources are given proper education, health care, and necessary infrastructure. Every nation’s top priority is health care.

To provide a significant contribution to this priority of our nation, School of Allied Health Sciences was started at our DSU, Perambalur campus. The School of Allied Health Sciences aims to create a generation of trained manpower with competence, learned and specialized in each field of medicine. Regulations

B.Sc Allied Health Sciences - (3 Years Program and one year Internship)

In exercise of the powers conferred by Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, the Standing Academic Board of the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Samayapuram hereby makes the following regulations.

Short Title and Commencement

These regulations shall be called as "B.Sc. DEGREE COURSES ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES" of the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Samayapuram They shall come into force from the academic year 2021-2022. The regulations and syllabus are subject modification from time to time by the Standing Academic Board.

Over All Objectives

The B.Sc. DEGREE COURSES UNDER ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES is prepared to assist the Doctors for providing Quality Patient Care in selected areas of Clinical Specialty in the Hospital and Community.

Eligibility for Admission

A pass in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subject or an equivalent with 12 years of Schooling from a recognized Board of University with minimum 45% marks in each subjects separately including English for all categories".“Home science along with Physics, Chemistry & Biology is eligible.

Age Limit for Admission

A candidate should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or would complete the said age on or before 31 December of the year of admission to the B.Sc. DEGREE COURSESUNDER ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES.

Eligibility Certificate

The candidate who has passed any qualifying examinations other than the Higher Secondary Course Examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu, before seeking admission to any one of the course shall obtain an Eligibility Certificate from this University by remitting the prescribed fees along with application form which shall be downloaded from.

Registration

A Candidate admitted in any one of the B.Sc. DEGREE COURSES UNDER ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES of this University shall register his / her name with this university by submitting the prescribed application form for registration duly filled, along with the prescribed fee and a declaration in the format to the University.

Migration/Transfer of Candidate

  • A student studying in any one of the B.Sc. DEGREE COURSES UNDER ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES can be allowed to migrate/transfer to another course of Allied Health Science under the same University.
  • All migration/transfer are subject to the approval of the Vice-chancellor.

Commencement of the Course

The course shall commence from 1st August of the academic year.

Medium of Instruction

English shall be the Medium of Instruction for all the Subjects of study and for examinations of the B.Sc. DEGREE COURSES UNDER ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES

Curriculum

The Curriculum and the syllabus for the course shall be as prescribed in these regulations are subject to modifications by the Standing Academic Board from time to time.

Duration of the Course

The duration of certified study for the B.Sc. DEGREE COURSES UNDER ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES shall extend over a period of four academic years including one year internship.

Re-Admission After Break of Study

The regulations for re-admission are as per the University Common Regulation for Re-admission after break of study for all courses.

Working Days in the Academic Year

Each academic year shall consist of not less than 240 working days

Attendance Required for Admission to Examination

  • No candidate shall be permitted to appear in any one of the parts of B.Sc. DEGREE COURSES UNDER ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES Examinations unless he/she has attended the course in the subject for the prescribed period in an affiliated institution recognized by this University and produce the necessary certificate of study, attendance and satisfactory conduct from the Head of the institution.
  • A candidate is required to put in a minimum of 85% of attendanceout of 240 working days in theory in each subject before admission to the examinations except for 1st year candidates where attendance will be counted from the date of joining. The academic year should consist of not less than 240 working days.
  • A candidate must have 100% attendance in each of the Practical/ Clinical areas before the award of Degree.

Condonation of Lack of Attendance

There shall be no condonation of lack of attendance.

Internal Assessment Marks

The Internal Assessment should consist of the following points for evaluation

  • Theory
  • Practical / Clinical
  • Viva

A minimum of five CAT shall be conducted in each subject during a year and the average marks of the three/CAT performances shall be takeninto consideration for the award of Internal Assessment marks.

A minimum of one practical examination shall be conducted in each subject (wherever practical has been included in the curriculum) and grades of ongoing clinical evaluation to be considered for the award of InternalAssessment marks.

Cut-Off Dates for Admission to Examinations

  • 30th September of the academic year concerned
  • The candidates admitted up to 30th September of the academic year shall be registered to take up the 1st year examination during Augustof the next year.

Commencement of the Examinaitons

  • 1st August / 1st February
  • If the date of commencement of examination falls on Saturdays / Sundays ordeclared
  • Public Holidays, the examination shall begin on the next working day.

Marks Qualifying for Pass

  • 50% of marks in the University Theory Examinations
  • 50% of marks in the University Practical Examinations
  • 50% of marks in the subject where internal evaluation alone is conducted
  • 50% of marks in aggregate in Theory, Practical I.A. & Oral taken together

Carry Over of Failed Subjects

  • A candidate has to pass in theory and practical examinations Separately in each of the paper
  • If a candidate fails either in theory or practical examinations, he/she has to reappear for both (theory and practical)

Practical Examination

  • Maximum number of candidates for practical examination should notexceed 20 per day
  • An examiner should be a lecturer or above in any of the external institutions of Allied Health Sciences.

Number of Examiners

One internal and one external examiner should jointly conduct practical/oral examination for each student

Revaluation/Retotalling of Answer Papers

Revaluation / Retoalling of answer papers is not permitted.

Lateral Entry

Lateral entry is applicable for all the U.G Degree courses of Allied Health Science Courses wherever corresponding Diploma courses is available in the concerned specialty. The Lateral duration of internship is 1 year for all the degree courses under Allied Health Sciences including Lateral Entry admissions.

Department of Cardiovascular Technology

School of Allied Health Sciences from Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Samayapuram has signed a MoU with RANA Hospital to train the cardiovascular technology students in Cardiac Diagnostic Procedures. They provide expert medical care to the community.



 

Medical Physics MoU - 1

Happy to share that Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University has signed an MOU with Harshamitra oncology private Limited today for Medical physics course in Department of Radiotherapy it provides precise Radiological imaging techniques such as computer tomography (CT), computerized 3-dimensional ”inverse” treatment planning, patient positioning, and more sophisticated linear accelerator, Brachtherapy services under one roof. The team of highly dedicated and trained professional staffs, strive to provide exceptional level of care for their satisfaction, with a motto to provide quality with reliable, accurate and economical results.

 

Department of Optometry MoU

School of Allied Health Sciences from Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Samayapuram has signed a MoU with Athreya Retinal centre. The clinic has state-of-the art equipment for investigation and treatment of various Retinal diseases.

 

Medical Physics MoU - 2

Happy to share that School of Allied Health sciences from Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University has signed an MoU with M/s. Amrish Oncology Services Private Ltd., (Dr.G.Viswanathan CBCC Cancer Center) provides precise Radiotherapy Techniques like VMAT, IGRT , IMRT & Conformal Therapy, Patients Simulation Technique , Radiological Safety Procedures, Radiological imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance(MR), Computer Tomography (CT) and more sophisticated linear accelerators services under one roof.

School of Allied Health Sciences from Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Samayapuram has signed a MOU with Frontline Hospital. It is a well-established multi-specialty Hospital in Trichy. The Hospital has state -of- the art equipment for investigation and treatment of various Renal Diseases. Students will be able to perform various dialysis procedures.

We are Glad to Share that School of Allied health sciences from Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University has signed an MoU with Dr.G.Viswanathan Multi-speciality Hospital (Babu Road Branch & Mambalasalai Branch),Trichy .The hospital has excellent facilities under various disciplines .Students from Accident & Emergency Care Technology (AECT), Critical Care Technology (CCT), Dialysis Technology (DT), Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology (OTAT), Physician Assistant (PA), Radiography & Imaging Technology (RIT) will be exclusively trained under their respective Departments.

We are grateful that Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, School of Allied Health Sciences Samayapuram, Trichy has signed an MoU on 20th Sep 2024 with VELAN Multi Speciality Hospital to train the students with respective departments of Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology, Cardio Vascular Technology, Accident Emergency Care Technology, Critical Care Technology in their relevant areas.
