The Fitness Assessment Program for SDAT -7 & 8 April 2026

The Fitness Assessment Program for SDAT (Sports development authority of Tamil Nadu) athletes was organized by the Sports Authority of India and conducted by Ortho One in collaboration with ABTP Sports Rehabilitation Unit. The program was held on 7 April 2026 at DSR MGO Stadium, District Sports Complex, Perambalur, and on 8 April 2026 at Ariyalur District Sports Complex. Pre-final year students from the School of Physiotherapy, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University actively participated as volunteers and gained valuable hands-on clinical exposure in athlete screening and sports performance evaluation. A total of nine students from BPT 3rd year contributed to the assessments. Athletes from athletics, handball, hockey, and volleyball were screened, including 43 female athletes at the intermediate level and 40 male athletes from intermediate and advanced levels. The assessment battery included medicine ball single arm throw, posterior capsule tightness assessment, range of motion testing, vertical jump test, dorsiflexion lunge test, limb length and strength assessment, Modified Thomas test, active knee extension test, medical screening, Y-Balance test, bridge test, reach test, and bio-electrical impedance analysis. Through this program, students gained practical exposure in conducting sports-specific assessment protocols, communicating and interacting with athletes, understanding team-based screening procedures, applying clinical reasoning during functional evaluation, and learning injury prevention strategies. The program enhanced their confidence, teamwork, and professional skills while bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world sports physiotherapy practice. The event was conducted under the guidance of Ernest Paul D (MPT Orthopaedics), HOD – Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation, ABTP & Ortho One, Coimbatore.

WORLD GERIATRIC DAY CELEBRATION-20-Jan-2026

On the occasion of World Geriatric Day, a community outreach program was organized on 20 January 2026 at Somanadaputhur Old Age Home by the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University – School of Physiotherapy. The program was attended by 52 third-year students, 40 elderly residents, faculty members, and family representatives. The event began with a brief introduction about the old age home and the significance of geriatric care, emphasizing the importance of promoting healthy ageing and enhancing quality of life among senior citizens. Faculty members delivered an interactive health talk focusing on posture correction, joint care, fall prevention, pain management strategies, and the benefits of regular physical activity. Students actively interacted with the residents, assessed their basic functional difficulties, clarified health-related queries, and demonstrated simple, safe, and effective exercises tailored to elderly individuals to improve flexibility, balance, strength, and mobility. Educational tips on maintaining independence in daily activities and preventing lifestyle-related complications were also shared. The program fostered empathy, social bonding, and community engagement, creating a supportive and cheerful environment. It concluded with a heartfelt sharing session where students and elderly residents exchanged experiences, making the celebration impactful, informative, and memorable for all participants.

CANCER DAY CELEBRATION - 4-02-2026

The Cancer Day Celebration 2026 was successfully conducted by the School of Physiotherapy, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Perambalur, on 04 February 2026 with the theme “United by Unique.” The program aimed to create awareness about cancer and promote unity and individuality among students. Various events such as Speech, Miming, Drama, Poster Presentation, Drawing, Short Film, and Reels were conducted, providing an effective platform for students to express their creativity and spread awareness regarding cancer. The program was organized smoothly and concluded successfully, and certificates were distributed to all the participants in appreciation of their active involvement.

PERAMBALUR DISTRICT-LEVEL CHESS TOURNAMENT

Students from the School of Physiotherapy, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University- Perambalur, participated in the Perambalur District-Level Chess Tournament (Open Category) held on December 7, 2025. Around 136 players, including men and women from across Perambalur District, took part in the tournament. We are proud to share that Ms. Vijayashubhasri S, a third-year Physiotherapy student, won the First Prize in the Open category. First-year students Ms. Sajeetha Mani S.R and Ms. Sowranjana R also performed excellently, securing the Eighth and Ninth Prizes, respectively. The winners received cash awards and trophies. Our Honourable Chancellor, Mr. A. Srinivasan, congratulated the students and extended his heartfelt blessings. The tournament was officiated by Mr. B. Deena Karan, Secretary of the Trichy District Chess Association, who served as the Chief Arbiter. The university congratulates the students for bringing pride and recognition to the School of Physiotherapy.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

An informative Basic Life Support (BLS) awareness class was conducted for the BPT Second Year students by Ms. Sugaina Farveen and Ms. Akshaya. The session focused on essential life-saving skills, emergency response steps, and the importance of timely intervention during critical situations. Students actively participated and gained valuable knowledge on core BLS techniques.

Basic First Aid Awareness-04.11.2025

The Department of Physiotherapy organized an engaging seminar and interactive session on Basic First Aid Awareness for the BPT First Year students. The session was handled by Ms. Aishwarya Lakshmi, who effectively explained essential first-aid techniques and their importance in emergency situations. Students participated actively and gained valuable practical knowledge.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme-28.09.2025

The BPT Third Year students participated in a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme held in Chennai on 28.09.2025. The session focused on the theme “Healthy Aging”, highlighting the importance of lifestyle modification, preventive care, and physiotherapy interventions in promoting healthy aging. The programme provided valuable insights and enhanced the clinical understanding of students through expert discussions and interactive learning.

State Level Chess Tournament - 1st Place -15.08.2024

Ms. S. Vijayasukhasri, a student of BPT Third Year, was honored with a cash prize and certificate by our Honourable Chairman on 15.08.2024 for securing 1st place in the State Level Chess Tournament. This remarkable achievement reflects her dedication, strategic excellence, and outstanding performance at the state level.

Ms. S. Vijayasukhasri, a student of BPT Third Year, secured 4th place in the prestigious Chief Ministers Trophy - State Level Chess Tournament held at Salem from 06th to 08th October 2025. Her consistent performance and dedication in competitive chess have brought pride to the Department of Physiotherapy and the University.
