The event commenced in the presence of our respected Dean, along with the Department of Psychiatry, whose valuable support and participation contributed significantly to the success of the program. An awareness speech was delivered by students and faculty, highlighting the nature of schizophrenia, its symptoms, challenges, and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. A mime performance was also presented by students, creatively conveying the emotional and psychological struggles of individuals living with schizophrenia, with the aim of reducing stigma and fostering empathy. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, promoting an open dialogue on mental health and encouraging support for those affected by psychiatric conditions. The program concluded with a note of thanks to all contributors and attendees, reaffirming the institutions commitment to mental health awareness and community education.
The School of Allied Health Sciences observed CPR Awareness Week - October 2025 with a series of activities aimed at educating the public and students on life-saving techniques during cardiac emergencies. Mass Demonstration on CPR Technique: As part of the Mass Gathering Preparedness Initiative, Dr. Paramasivan (Head of Anesthesia) and Dr. Vasanth (Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine) along with their team members Dr. Sandiya, Dr. Jothiswaran, Mr. Manikandan and CCT Third Year students (Ms. Ayisha, Ms. Dharani, Mr. Kanitharan, Ms. Renuka, Ms. Rohini, Ms. Sathyabama) conducted a live demonstration on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The session educated participants on the essential steps of CPR and stressed the importance of timely intervention. Street Play - Be a Lifesaver, Not a Bystander A street play was performed to highlight the importance of responding quickly during cardiac arrest. The performance emphasized how every individual has the potential to save lives with basic CPR knowledge and quick action. Poster Competition: Students of SIMS presented both e-posters and paper posters on CPR covering the concept, techniques for adults, infants and pregnant women, and the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). The posters served to create awareness on the importance of CPR in saving lives. Quiz Competition: A quiz competition was conducted for students on life-saving techniques. It included topics such as fundamentals of CPR, techniques for different age groups and conditions, and AED usage. The activity encouraged active participation and reinforced the importance of being prepared for cardiac emergencies. The CPR Awareness Week 2025 successfully enhanced knowledge, awareness, and preparedness among both students and the general public with the message - Every Second Counts - Be a Lifesaver.

The School of Allied Health Sciences, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, celebrated Physician Assistant Week and World Sight Day on 13th & 14th October 2025 with a variety of academic and cultural activities. Students actively participated in competitions such as poster presentations, quiz programs, and vegetable carvings based on anatomy and disease diagnosis. On 14th October, a guest lecture on Role of PA and Current Updates in Physician Assistant Profession was delivered by Mr. Santhosh, Assistant Professor, Vinayaka Mission, Chennai, and General Secretary of the Physician Assistant Association of India. For Optometry, a special lecture on Low Vision Assessment in Field Defects was presented by Dr. Gopinath, Research Associate, Achytha Eye Care & Optometry Institute, Erode, and member of the Tamil Nadu Optometry Association. The celebrations concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to the winners, marking an inspiring and insightful event that enriched the knowledge and skills of Allied Health Sciences students.
On November 15, 2024, the School of Allied Health Sciences at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University organized a Drug Awareness program. The event was presided over by our esteemed Chancellor, Shri A. Srinivasan. To enhance awareness about the dangers of drug use, a seminar was conducted by Mrs. Bharathi, the Coordinator of AHS. Additionally, slogan writing and poster-making competitions were held both online and offline, encouraging students to actively participate and demonstrate their knowledge and creativity
On November 20, 2024, the School of Allied Health Sciences at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University organized a dengue awareness program across 13 villages, including Esanai, Keelakanavai, Keelakarai, Renganadhapuram, Thambiranpatti, Alampadi, Vellanur, Mottur, Senjeri, and Pudhunaduvalur. Approximately 700 students participated in the event, conducting rallies with dengue awareness placards. In Pudhunaduvalur, the rally was inaugurated by Mrs. Jayanthi Neelaraj, Village Panchayat Leader of Naduvalur, while in Alampadi, Mrs. Kalpana Srinivasan, Village Panchayat Leader of Alampadi, and Mr. Senthil Kumar, Assistant Program Director, flagged off the event. During the program, students visited every household to raise awareness about dengue prevention, particularly focusing on eliminating factors that encourage the growth of Aedes mosquitoes. They also distributed Andrographis powder and soup to the villagers.
On October 18, 2024, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University’s School of Allied Health Sciences marked the celebration of Sight Week and Physician Assistant day under the inspiring themes, "Children Love the Eyes” and “We Can Make a Difference”. The event was presided over by our Honorable Chancellor, Shri. A. Srinivasan, and aimed to raise awareness and enhance knowledge through engaging activities. Working model presentations were conducted on the topics such as vision pathway, fetal development, menstrual cycle, urine formation, diabetic retinopathy where our talented students showcased their knowledge and creativity, earning well-deserved appreciation. Our chief guest, Mrs.S. Bharathi (Coordinator - AHS), along with Dr. Subramaniyan (Dean - BPT), distributed prizes and motivated our students. This celebration stood as a testament to the dedication of our students and faculty in promoting education, awareness, and excellence in allied health sciences.
Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan university’s school of allied health sciences celebrated “WORLD ANESTHESIA DAY” on October 16, 2024 under the presidency of Shri. A. Srinivasan. The event was graced by esteemed guests, Dr. Visvanathan MD., (dean), Dr. T. Jeyaseelan senthinath MD.,(Deputy Medical Superindent) and Dr. G. Siva MBBS., (ARMO). The keynote lecture on “endotracheal intubation” was delivered by Dr. N. Nivedha. To make the celebration more engaging and informative various competitions were organized including quiz, poster presentation, drawing, poetry (Kavithai) and Reel making. Our students actively participated in the competitions and showcased their creativity and enthusiasm.
Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan university’s school of allied health sciences celebrated world heart day on 30th September, 2024, emphasizing the theme “use heart for action”. The global event aimed to promote cardiovascular health and encourage individuals to take action towards a healthier heart. Our esteemed chancellor shri. A. Srinivasan presided over the event, highlighting the importance of heart.
We were honoured to have Dr. Shiva armo, dsimsh, perambalur, as our chief guest, sharing valuable insights on cardiovascular care. To create awareness among students Basic life support (BLS) training was given by Dr. S. Kalidoss MD., Anesthesiology and Dr. I. Samson MD., Anesthesiology. To engage students and promote healthy heart various competitions including working model competition, powerpoint presentation, mime, speech competition were organized. Our students actively participated in the competitions, showcasing their creativity, knowledge and enthusiasm.
Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, School of Allied Health Sciences Perambalur, organized the Malaria Awareness Program and Camp on April 25. The program combined instructional sessions and camp on kurumbaloor Village primary health centre with practical health interventions to successfully combat malaria. The initiative featured thorough workshops delivered by healthcare professionals that covered malaria prevention techniques, symptom recognition, and treatment choices. Concurrently, a screening camp provided community members with diagnostic testing and counselling, with an emphasis on early diagnosis and treatment. The delivery of mosquito nets, insect repellents, and educational materials supplemented the awareness campaign, creating community empowerment in malaria control. The event successfully engaged participants in proactive health behaviors, emphasizing the need of working together to reduce malaria incidence and promote community well-being.
Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, School of Allied Health Sciences Perambalur, organized the World Optometry Day program on March 23, 2024, to highlight the importance of vision care and optometry in promoting global eye health. Mrs. S. Bharathi, an Associate Professor and eye care specialist, led educational lecture on common eye problems, vision correction therapies, and the value of regular eye exams. The interactive presentation presented realistic eye care procedures and provided information on prevention and treatment options, while students tracked their progress and models were displayed. The program was effective in raising awareness about the importance of vision health and emphasizing optometry's role in improving quality of life through accessible and comprehensive eye care.
Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, School of Allied Health Sciences Perambalur, organized the Glaucoma Awareness Program on March 12, 2024, with the goal of spreading awareness about glaucoma, the primary cause of permanent blindness. The program comprised by Dr.Ramanan instructional talks to ophthalmologists on glaucoma symptoms, risk factors, and treatment options. The program successfully engaged participants in understanding the value of early diagnosis and treatment adherence in reducing glaucoma-related vision loss, focusing on community health empowerment and collaboration with healthcare providers.

The event featured expert-led sessions covering the transmission, mime, prevention, and treatment of HIV/AIDS, along with an interactive lecture aimed at reducing stigma and promoting empathy. The program effectively mobilized community participation, distributed educational materials, and highlighted the importance of solidarity in combating HIV/AIDS, marking a significant step towards fostering a well-informed and supportive environment.
